Operation Solstice (Battle of the beanfield) 1985

now for a change, heres a video i upped for another site so thought id stick it on here too

a brief history of the events
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Beanfield

now watch 10 minutes here, most of it is unbroadcast news footage, even the newsmen couldnt believe what they were seeing, men, women and children being beaten and their homes smashed to bits and burnt.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIgFBV-iY8E

warning this footage brings me to tears EVERYTIME i see it, and fills me with rage, you have been warned, its shocking.

and heres the classic levellers (folk punk) song of the events
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ToKrmo9H8XY
which also makes the hairs on my body stand on end and tears to my eyes with sadness

Subhumans - Live Sheffield Leadmill 17.2.85 (tape)

I've posted this on a torrent site, may as well post it here aswell, heres what i said............

Heres a rarity, i've been told even the guy who taped it, and released it, and Dick from the band dont even have a copy of this...yet
I've left it as is, i dont go in for altering the audio, i'd just fuck it up, there is a clicky noise near the beginning but i think it disappears about 1 minute in or so, its not bad played on the puter but on my hifi it was loud as fuck.
I've ripped it to flac as the original sound qualitys ok but not amazing so wanted to preserve as much of the sound as i could.

This isnt actually a bluurg release either, it was released on a small Sheffield distro called "epileptic chainsaw tapes" and this was the 2nd release (epic 2), the guy who taped / released it was in a band called protest too.

The set is 43minutes and 43 seconds long, this includes some interviewing and crowd noise due to a fight that occurred that night...i left the whole tape as is.

setlist
All gone dead
Apathy
rats
From the cradle to the grave
No
Powergames
Not me

Brian Brain - Unexpected noises (1980)

Heres another undervalued classic weirdy record. I saw this for download on a blog AFTER i'd ripped it, but as its still pretty hard to find and good i thought i'd still upload it.

Brian Brain was Martin Atkins (PIL, Ministry, Pigface, NIN, killing Joke etc) they released this lp and a few singles.
Strangely this is the only Secret Records record i've seen that has a BLACK label, Normally they have a YELLOW label (Twisted Sister, Exploited etc) if anybody knows why, or what other ones are black labels let me know.

This is Brain 1 (on Secret records) from 1980

Elliott Sharp - NOTS

from wiki
"Elliott Sharp (b. Cleveland, Ohio, March 1, 1951) is an American multi-instrumentalist, composer, and performer.

A key figure in the avant-garde and experimental music scene in New York City for over thirty years, Sharp has released over sixty-five recordings ranging from blues, jazz, and orchestral music to noise, no wave rock, and techno music. He pioneered ways of applying fractal geometry, chaos theory, and genetic metaphors to musical composition and interaction, as well as the use of computers in live improvisation with his Virtual Stance project of the 1980s. He is an inveterate performer, playing mainly guitar, saxophone and bass clarinet. Sharp has led many ensembles over the years, including the blues-oriented Terraplane and Orchestra Carbon."

NOTS is from 1982 and is on noted indie label Glass records (Spacemen 3, Pulp) and is quite strange, a mix of "indie" and improvised style jazz i suppose. I did think it was strange till i heard a couple of his other albums actually, and found its actually one of the more saner accessible albums of his.

Cadra ash - Everything gone by preview cd

Heres another cd demo by German Goth band Cadra Ash, see below post for info.

Cadra Ash - 1995 demo cd

Cadra Ash, "the moth that has turned to ashes" represents in an ambiguous sense the suction to act against reason, driven by a magical appeal, to follow the desire for eternal lust, to give in to temptation- this is what paraphrases the name of this unique band from the German "Ruhrgebiet" most strikingly.

It was only 8 months after their formation, that the three "night owls" Tom D. (bass/programming), Tatjana E. Fernandez (vocals) and the guitar player Thomas W. introduced their first four-track-demo to an enthusiastic audience in the spring of 1995.

The band´s rising tendency had become unstoppable: A second position in an important newcomer-competition and a strong live performance lead to Cadra Ash´s reputation as a band of high potentials. Several interviews and a contribution to the "Gothic Grimoire"-compilation helped them to become recognized throughout Europe.

Tatjana left the band in 1996 and Tom played as a guest-musician with "The House Of Usher", before Rabea Lange completes the line-up again.

It was the chance-meeting of most different musical roots that lead to the trio´s large variety of musical influences.

The dense atmosphere of harmonically and driving bass´- and drum parts, imbued by neurotically, queer guitars and hypnotically synth-sounds carries Rabea´s unconventional vocals into consciousness and undoubtingly makes clear that notions such as "Dark Wave" and "Gothic" do not simply imply the "darkness" in everything, but that various coloured nuances are the essence of the pleasure of being.

These are the bricks on which this unique universe of sound, by which the three musicians know to attract their audience, has been built.

In the spring of 1998 Cadra Ash released their "Secrets" MCD as a part of the split-CD

"Emanation- The Sounds Of New Hope Part III"

with the label "ALICE IN...", also featuring the bands "Pictures Of Agony" and "Salt Of Anguish".

From that time, Cadra Ash have been considered to be one of the most promising newcomers in "Goth" music, a fact they proved in the period following by their live performance at various festivals such as "Summer Horizon" (with considerable Bands like e.g.:" The Sisters Of Mercy", "Atrocity"," HIM" and "Tanzwut") and as a supporting act for "The Escape", "The Merry Thoughts" and "Funhouse" most impressively.

Another push in popularity was the release of their song "Inner Strife" on the "Hex Files Vol. III"-compilation in the same year, which granted the band a world-wide response.

Also the cooperation with the booking-agency "Mother Dance" turned out to be a stroke of luck. Cadra Ash played at the "Herbstnächte" festival in 1999, in the spring of 2000 they supported "Faith And The Muse" on their European Tour and played at several international festivals , e.g. in Portugal ("Hall Of Dreams"/Porto), at the "Castle" festival in Bolkow/PL, the "Thesmophoria" in Whitby/UK, the "Gothic World" meeting and the "Castle Rock" festival with as well known acts as "Dreadful Shadows", "Garden Of Delight", "Letzte Instanz", "Judith" and "Breath Of Life".

In the meantime they introduced a choice of new songs as contributions to various compilations.

During the year 2001, Cadra Ash took a creative "break", interrupted by a brilliant gig supporting "Diva Destruction" at the "Zwischenfall" in Bochum.

Waiting has now come to an end. They just released their new "EVERY..." E.P. and the count-down to a listening-pleasure of a special kind has begun...
