Cadra Ash - 1995 demo cd
Cadra Ash, "the moth that has turned to ashes" represents in an ambiguous sense the suction to act against reason, driven by a magical appeal, to follow the desire for eternal lust, to give in to temptation- this is what paraphrases the name of this unique band from the German "Ruhrgebiet" most strikingly.
It was only 8 months after their formation, that the three "night owls" Tom D. (bass/programming), Tatjana E. Fernandez (vocals) and the guitar player Thomas W. introduced their first four-track-demo to an enthusiastic audience in the spring of 1995.
The band´s rising tendency had become unstoppable: A second position in an important newcomer-competition and a strong live performance lead to Cadra Ash´s reputation as a band of high potentials. Several interviews and a contribution to the "Gothic Grimoire"-compilation helped them to become recognized throughout Europe.
Tatjana left the band in 1996 and Tom played as a guest-musician with "The House Of Usher", before Rabea Lange completes the line-up again.
It was the chance-meeting of most different musical roots that lead to the trio´s large variety of musical influences.
The dense atmosphere of harmonically and driving bass´- and drum parts, imbued by neurotically, queer guitars and hypnotically synth-sounds carries Rabea´s unconventional vocals into consciousness and undoubtingly makes clear that notions such as "Dark Wave" and "Gothic" do not simply imply the "darkness" in everything, but that various coloured nuances are the essence of the pleasure of being.
These are the bricks on which this unique universe of sound, by which the three musicians know to attract their audience, has been built.
In the spring of 1998 Cadra Ash released their "Secrets" MCD as a part of the split-CD
"Emanation- The Sounds Of New Hope Part III"
with the label "ALICE IN...", also featuring the bands "Pictures Of Agony" and "Salt Of Anguish".
From that time, Cadra Ash have been considered to be one of the most promising newcomers in "Goth" music, a fact they proved in the period following by their live performance at various festivals such as "Summer Horizon" (with considerable Bands like e.g.:" The Sisters Of Mercy", "Atrocity"," HIM" and "Tanzwut") and as a supporting act for "The Escape", "The Merry Thoughts" and "Funhouse" most impressively.
Another push in popularity was the release of their song "Inner Strife" on the "Hex Files Vol. III"-compilation in the same year, which granted the band a world-wide response.
Also the cooperation with the booking-agency "Mother Dance" turned out to be a stroke of luck. Cadra Ash played at the "Herbstnächte" festival in 1999, in the spring of 2000 they supported "Faith And The Muse" on their European Tour and played at several international festivals , e.g. in Portugal ("Hall Of Dreams"/Porto), at the "Castle" festival in Bolkow/PL, the "Thesmophoria" in Whitby/UK, the "Gothic World" meeting and the "Castle Rock" festival with as well known acts as "Dreadful Shadows", "Garden Of Delight", "Letzte Instanz", "Judith" and "Breath Of Life".
In the meantime they introduced a choice of new songs as contributions to various compilations.
During the year 2001, Cadra Ash took a creative "break", interrupted by a brilliant gig supporting "Diva Destruction" at the "Zwischenfall" in Bochum.
Waiting has now come to an end. They just released their new "EVERY..." E.P. and the count-down to a listening-pleasure of a special kind has begun...
